Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique

Breakthrough scalpel-free, suture-free and graft-free treatment for gum recession

Are you neglecting gum recession?

Dr. Dyer and his staff understand the desire for minimally invasive procedures that heal quickly and give you the smile you want sooner rather than later. Gum recession, which refers to the loss of gum tissue along the gum line, is as common as it is potentially dangerous. Such recession is often a result of periodontal disease (like gingivitis and periodontits), aging or habitually brushing teeth too abrasively. Ignoring and neglecting gum recession is dangerous, given that it can lead to tooth decay and a slew of other issues. Treating your gums is imperative for your dental health.

Dr. Dyer treats gum recession with a breakthrough, minimally invasive procedure

Dr. Dyer now offers the breakthrough Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST®), also known as Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™ and Lunchtime Gum Lift™, to treat gum recession without the pain of scalpels, sutures or grafts. The procedure, invented and patented by John Chao, D.D.S., is performed by making a small hole with a needle in the gum tissue. Special instruments are then used through the pinhole to gently loosen gum tissue, which helps expand and slide the gum line to cover the exposed root structure.

The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique beats traditional gum grafting

While rebuilding the gum line with donor tissue or soft tissue grafts is effective, it also involves longer healing time. Studies have shown that the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique produces comparable results with better patient experience. Because the Pinhole Technique doesn’t use scalpels, sutures or traditional grafting, patients can expect quick recovery with little to no post-operative symptoms such as pain, swelling and bleeding. Another added benefit is the immediate cosmetic improvement that typically occurs after a single treatment.
